Cllr Penny Stables is the Green Group leader on Leeds City Council, representing Wetherby ward. She was elected in May 2023, marking a significant Green Party gain in a ward traditionally held by Conservatives for nearly five decades.

Locally she has stood up for Wetherby and the Villages, including a campaign and petition to West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin to restore the No 7 bus to a half-hourly service. She has also pushed for improvements to road safety on Linton Road, worked on setting up accessibility groups, and liaising with the local parish councils in the ward.

Penny has lived in Boston Spa for over two decades. She is married with two sons, who are currently university students. Professionally, Penny has 23 years of experience in business, focusing on sales, marketing, and startups, and she is also a trained Nutritional Therapist.
