Your Green candidate for Morley South

Chris Bell

Local Campaigner

We are delighted that Chris Bell will be representing the Green Party in the Morley South By-Election.

Chris has been running active campaigns around Morley, showing interest in local and national issues and holding the elected politicians to account for the decisions they have made.

Chris says: “I have been living in the Morley South ward for 17 years and would be very proud to represent the passionate local community and ensure their concerns are heard and acted upon by the city and town councils respectively.
In the last 4 years, my key focus has been on representing the strongly held belief of the local community that the development at Capitol Park must be declined. In this I advocated for residents at 2 LCC plans panel meetings.

WHy Vote for Chris?

Chris says: “Morley deserves a councillor that will put your best interests ahead of their party. I will listen to your concerns and take them to the council.

My record is one of working with others in shared interests: whether it’s banding together with concerned local citizens over the closure of Morley bottoms or appearing in front of Leeds City Council plans panels to advocate residents’ objections against a business development on Topcliffe Farm.

Morley has a blend of old and new, with some hidden gems of green spaces nestled within the urban areas. I will fight to preserve the heritage of Morley.

Why vote Green?

Your choice on June 12th is clear:

  • Labour has lost its way.
  • The Conservatives have given up completely on Morley.
  • The Morley Borough Independents (MBIs) have had twenty years to make the changes needed, and their confrontational approach to the city council has not produced the right results.
  • The Lib Dems have never polled well here, and have little to offer.

Thinking of voting for Reform? They are little more than a rebadged version of the Conservatives. Morley voted to get rid of its Conservative MP last year – don’t let them back in!

By voting Green, you can elect Chris Bell: a dedicated, passionate local campaigner who is willing to listen to residents, and do what is needed to make Morley the best it can be.

Can you help?

Chris is offering Real Hope and Real Change in Morley with the Green Party. Can you help his campaign?

In this year’s May elections, Greens won a record number of Councillors across the country. The Green Party has quadrupled their number of councillors in recent year to over 850 in over 170 councils. We’re currently in power on 39 authorities including Bristol and Mid Suffolk – which won council of the year in 2024 – and are part of the administration in over 40 councils.
