On Tuesday 21st January, the office of Tracy Brabin (Mayor of West Yorkshire) received a petition signed by over 1,840 residents, calling for the restoration of the Transdev number 7 bus route to a half-hourly service.
Thanks to Christine Petch, Matt Fisher and Cllr Penny Stables, West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) have agreed to add the service to the list of services to consider funding to bring the service back to every half an hour.
This is the only public transport that connects Boston Spa, Thorner, Bramham, Clifford, Thorp Arch and Walton with Leeds and Harrogate, and is vital for many residents, to get to work, appointments, shopping and to meet with family and friends.
Councillor Stables (Wetherby, Green Group Leader) previously commented:
“Public transport isn’t a luxury; it’s essential. The current unreliable service disrupts our daily lives […] this is about ensuring fairness and accessibility for all communities, no matter where they live”
