Statement from Mothin Ali 6th May 2024 / 3rd June 2024 by Stewart Christie Like many across the world, I have been deeply impacted by the dreadful conflict currently underway in Gaza. The International Court of Justice has stated that this conflict meets the case for plausible genocide. Unfortunately, the inaccurate reporting and misrepresentation of my acceptance speech have led to a great deal of hate and hostility directed towards me. I want to clarify that it is not unusual for someone of my faith to use the phrase ‘Allahu Akbar’ as an expression of gratitude and celebration. However, some have sought to misrepresent this, which I believe suggests an underlying issue of Islamophobia. Read more »
