David Blackburn, representing the Farnley and Wortley Ward, is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and community involvement.

Community Service and Environmental Advocacy

• Nuclear-Free Zones Advocacy. He actively supports nuclear disarmament and is involved with the Nuclear Free Local Authorities (NFLA), where he has been a Chairperson. His work includes promoting policies to phase out nuclear energy in favor of renewable sources.
• Community Infrastructure Improvement. Blackburn is committed to opposing developments on greenfield sites and supports building to sustainable, modern standards, including retrofitting existing properties to better energy standards.
• Local Healthcare and Community Services. Through his role in local care partnerships, specifically the Bramley, Wortley & Middleton Local Care Partnership, he focuses on integrating community resources to enhance local healthcare services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Old Farnley and District Community Association.Trusteeship and Community Development: Blackburn is a trustee for the Old Farnley and District Community Association, a role through which he helps manage and direct activities aimed at improving local conditions. This association focuses on a wide range of charitable purposes including education, community development, and recreation, benefiting children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
• Association Activities. The association provides essential facilities and services that promote social welfare and recreational activities within the community, playing a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for its members.
