Diversity and equality

Central and Outer Leeds Green Party believes in equality for all and is committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, language, religion or other opinion, age, national or social origin, economic status or any other social, physical or mental condition. This commitment is demonstrated through our voluntary appointment of an Equality and Diversity Officer dedicated to improving inclusiveness.

Our equality and diversity priorities for Leeds are:

  • Ensuring that equality and diversity principles are at the forefront of all Council policies.
  • Working in partnership with local communities to urge Leeds City Council to do more to tackle particular forms of discrimination. For example, we worked in partnership with local Muslim communities to appeal to the Council to do more to stand up to Islamophobia.
  • Engaging closely with diverse communities across the city to better understand their needs and involve them fully in local decision-making processes.
  • Supporting local events that celebrate the diversity of our city and empower people and communities.

For more information about our national Green Party policies on equality and diversity see Rights and Responsibilities.

We support co-ops, community campaigns and groups across Leeds working towards these aims. If you are involved in a campaign and would like to discuss working together, please contact leedsgreenparty@gmail.com.
