Mothin Ali is your Green councillor for Gipton and Harehills, elected in 2024.
He has lived in Gipton and Harehills for 20+ years. In that time, Mothin has always been involved in community work, including volunteering at the mosque teaching children Arabic, campaigning against granting more licences to sell alcohol, and campaigning against drug dealers exploiting young people.
Mothin is particularly passionate about tackling antisocial behaviour and general community wellbeing. Knowing what it’s like being in a marginalised community, he founded the anti-racism organisation Dig It Out, focusing on equality within horticulture; you can find out more about this by searching for ‘My Family Garden’.
